Let's look forward to sweet success

Specialists from across the food and drink sector are invited to attend the Food and Drink Federation's[1] Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Confectionery Sector Group's (BCCC) annual conference on 18 – 19 March 2010.

Titled 'Looking Forward to Sweet Success'[2], this year's conference sparks the broadening of this annual event's horizon beyond its former technical focus to cover a broad range of the key developments and issues shaping today's food industry, including the impact of the recession, issues surrounding waste and sustainability and responding to consumer pressure.

The conference has always provided an extremely high calibre of speakers and is an invaluable opportunity for food professionals and academics to discuss the latest thinking, wide-ranging issues and developments shaping our industry. A keynote presentation on 'UK Economic Situation & Outlook' will be given by Lai Wah Co of the CBI. Other speakers include Dr Peter Jones of Waste2Tricity discussing food chain waste, and Loders Croklaan giving a talk about RSPO Certified sustainable palm oil.

The programme also includes sessions on traceability, improving ethical performance, developing voluntary guidelines for communicating portion size to consumers and salt reduction using salt.
