Training providers and employers will have the opportunity to work together to develop new qualifications for people working in the food and drink industry. The new work-based qualifications initiative by food and drink sector skills council Improve will offer greater flexibility and increased scope for tailoring training to employer’s needs.
The Improve Proficiency Qualifications (IPQ), designed specifically for the food and drink industry, aim to develop and confirm competence in specific job roles in the sector. The new unit based qualifications will be accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
Derek Williams, development director, Improve, comments: “IPQs allow training to be linked directly to the company’s strategy for people improvement and change, and put the training provider in a pivotal position for achieving this.”
Individual qualifications will be available to employers and learners over the course of next year.
